KrevardHello everyone,

I'm preparing an activity for my students and I need facts and trivia about castles in Great Britain such as which one is the oldest, the tallest, the most haunted, the most seen in films...

I've already had some answers on websites like www.castles-of-britain.com but I'd like to get more. Do you know other websites where I could get this kind of information? Or maybe you know some interesting trivia of your own...

Thanks for your help,

Krevard.

KrevardNo news from you yet...

Here's a list of what I've found already other than what you can find on castles-of-Britain. But it's of course very arguable as my sources are quite weak!

Most haunted: Glamis and Chillingham
Most photographed: Eilean Donan
Most seen in films: Eilean Donan (But I'm not sure at all, is it really? In which films does it appear?)

And... that's it, so far!

As you can see, it's not much... Any help would be greatly appreciated

Krevard

MariaHave you tried searching in older posts? I think I remember a topic about the tallest...
deborahknowlesMost haunted is definately Chillingham. I stayed there and saw the Blue Boy and I didn't believe in ghosts before that!
Most romantic ruin I would say is Dunstanburgh - can't be beaten on a sunny day. Good luck with your research!

KrevardThank you both. I'm going to search the forum first and then complete my second post with my new findings.

I'm sorry but romantic is too subjective! But I'm ready to believe you. thanks for the tip!

It's weird, I would have thought that somebody had already done somehin like this...

Krevard

AJRWell - maybe you could start us off.

The problem with any "most romantic, most photographed, most seen in films, most haunted, etc" will always be a matter of opinion, or limited to a particular media source, such as the internet.

The largest is easy (Windsor), but the smallest is not. Your task will not be easy, and I applaud you for trying.

In my opinion, you may be better off setting questions where the answers can be found through a little research. Such a set of literally dozens of questions can be found at http://www.castleduncan.com/forum/index.php?s=66019592b9759cf26867c1a3745c287a&showtopic=1163

Look through and see what you think. Yo'll be surprised at the depth, and triviality of it all, but it can be addictive.

Aiken DrumYup it certainly is addictive, but just beware of setting a question which you think has a certain answer, and it turns out to have to or three possibles, or even might be debated. Know your subject before setting a question!
If you can bear to read through our drivel and survive our humor, you'll find as Andrew says dozens of decent questions, there's 112 pages of posts.
